I joined the CRAFt board because I deeply respect and have personally witnessed the transformative power of artistic expression for healing in communities of color. The founders of CRAFt not only recognize this but actively seek ways to ensure that this healing process is accessible.

As someone who volunteered for CRAFt the first two years and loved the mission of the festival, I was very excited when I heard that this festival was looking for board members. As a queer south Asian person, I felt represented and welcome by the organizers and people who attended the festival. In its mission to highlight BIPOC creatives in Boulder, CRAFt creates an inclusive space for people who do not necessarily feel represented in other spaces, and I was motivated to continue this work to create a more inclusive space in Boulder, where many people, especially those from BIPOC backgrounds, feel othered or not welcome. I hope to continue this work for the years to come, and feel confident especially now that we have more people behind this mission!

Board Members

  • Ali Arfeen | Fundraising Officer | he/him

Growing up, I didn't realize the importance of spaces dedicated to people of color. But experiencing them firsthand, I felt a profound sense of belonging and support. Now, at CRAFt, I'm committed to helping create and preserve these vital spaces, so that others may also benefit from them.

  • Mayra Aviña | Volunteer Coordination | ella/she/her(s)

I joined CRAFt to uplift and continue the opportunity CRAFT offers emerging artists and performers.

  • Abigail Intolubbe-Chmil | Finance | she/they

I joined CRAFt to do something I love while supporting a beautiful community. It is an inspiring festival full of incredible talent that deserves to be in the spotlight and shared with others. I love the opportunity of becoming a part of a festival I got to enjoy so much as an attendee the first couple years.

  • Outreach Coordination Officer

Being a person of color and vocalist/musician CRAFt was created “for me”. After volunteering for 2 years, when the board was created, applying to participate was a no brainer for me, as I saw first hand the opportunities this organization created. And believe there is room to do so much more.

  • Cindy Li | Fundraising Officer | she/her

As a small business owner and creative, I love the space and community that CRAFt provides for emerging artists and vendors. It is an honor to be part of the team supporting the ongoing creation of these future opportunities.

  • Michelle Nguyen | Outreach Coordination | she/they

  • Sandy Tran | Digital Communications | no pronoun preference

I joined CRAFt because Colorado is severely lacking in support for creators and performers of color. Seeing the community CRAFt has nurtured and continue to foster in just a few short years have been a beautiful sight. I've known of so many artists who have gotten their start with CRAFt and so many opportunities from the network they've built with CRAFt. I want to help support this initiative and see it reach beyond Boulder.
